Safety & Rules
SAFETY FIRST! Rule #1 is that no one is allowed to do anything that might get them or anyone else hurt. Safety rules must be followed not only by students but also by parents, grandparents, other guardians, and siblings.
Be Prepared for Class
- All parents/guardians with a child in any class must sign a Waiver and Release Form.
- Students must wear appropriate athletic attire. They may not wear jewelry, belt buckles, or any other metal clothing accessories during classes.
- Students should have their hair tied back away from their face. Nails should be trimmed to prevent the possibility of injury.
- Be on time. Please get to class about 5-10 minutes before class starts so you can be ready for the beginning. Warm-ups are important to your child’s safety and are required before all strenuous class participation.
- This season, Inclusion staff will not let students participate without proper apparel and shoes. We have required practicewear, please look at the class descriptions for more information. There will be no refunds for students that need to sit out due to improper apparel and shoes.
- No horseplay and no fighting of any kind.
- No running anywhere in the facility unless directed by your instructor, especially in socks.
During Class
- Children must follow the instructor’s instructions for their own safety. Proper gym and social behavior is expected of all students. Failure to act appropriately and safely may result in your removal from class. No refunds will be issued if students are asked to not participate because of improper behavior.
- Students are expected to be respectful and polite and always show good manners in the gym.
- Report any injury, unusual pain, or discomfort felt during participation to your coach or instructor immediately. A student must advise the instructor if he or she is ill or has any symptoms of illness.
- Spotting is to be done by coaches only. No student or parent spotting of gymnasts.
- No one is allowed to interfere with the progress of another gymnast or class.
- Immediately wash your hands and other skin surfaces if you come in contact with blood or other bodily fluids.
- Before crossing any dismount mat, tumbling strip, floor exercise mat, or another apparatus, look for other gymnasts. Don’t cross until the way is clear. Always yield to gymnasts in the middle of doing skills.
- Students may not leave their class without permission from their instructor. This includes trips to the bathroom, water fountain, or waiting area.
After Class
- All trash goes immediately into trash cans.
- Students must remain inside the studio until their parents arrive. Students should be on time for the start of class and stay until the end.
- Students are expected to be picked up within 15 minutes of the end of their scheduled class. Repeated lateness without instructor or studio notification and agreement will incur extra charges.
- Children on medication which may affect their coordination skills should not be allowed to attend classes. The higher the skill level, the more dangerous this is for your child. Please advise the coach if your child is on medication.
- VERY IMPORTANT—DO NOT LET THE STUDENT TRY DIFFICULT STUNTS AT HOME! Students will want to practice what they learned in class at home. This is encouraged, but ONLY SAFE SKILLS! DO NOT TRY any backward gymnastics skills, aerials, parkour jumps from tall objects, or many other difficult skills learned during class. The teachers have been instructed on proper spotting techniques, and the classes have the proper mats and crash pads. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
Parents
- Parents must make their children aware of the possibility of injury and the studio’s rules and insist that students follow the safety rules and teacher’s instructions.
- Parents should not coach from the sidelines. Your child will be safer and learn more from the instructor, and get more out of class if you do not interfere. Ask the coach or schedule a meeting after class if you have questions. Should there be a problem with a particular instructor or a problem with anything to do with your child and the gym, please do not hesitate to discuss the same with management. Parents should stay within the confines of the waiting area.

Equipment
- Use Equipment Safely – all equipment should be used properly and with supervision. Mats should be used to protect students at all times. Coaches must be familiar with the equipment to use it correctly. The safety of students and coaches is ensured by regular equipment checks. Care should be taken to use the most suitable equipment for the discipline and ability of the students.
- No student is allowed in the class areas or on any equipment without an instructor present. Do not use the bars or high balance beam without direct supervision of teachers/coaches. Teachers must be asked before using the beam or bars and at least one teacher must be within 3 feet of the beam or bars before they can be used.
- No destruction or vandalism of equipment will be tolerated. Guardians are liable for any damage caused.
- Children must be kept under control in the waiting area at all times. No standing or climbing on chairs or any other furniture. No using mats or other equipment without permission.
- Check for proper matting before using any equipment. Check equipment, matting, and apparatus before use.
- A student must never dismount off apparatus onto anything but landing mats or crash pads.
- Crash pads and landing mats increase safety, but will not totally protect anyone from injury. Student should use common sense and proper learning progressions.
- A student must never dive head first or land on your head or neck on crash pads or landing mats. No mat can totally prevent serious injury to your head or neck, so avoid landing on them.
- No one other than currently registered and enrolled students are allowed in the class areas or on the equipment for any reason. Siblings CANNOT play on ANY equipment.
