What should my child wear to class?

Each class has specific attire requirements, which are described on our Class Descriptions page.

Generally, for most dance and gymnastics classes, a tight-fitting top is required, whether a tank top, t-shirt, or long sleeve. The stomach should remain covered when the student goes upside down, so leotards are strongly encouraged to prevent any issues. For younger students, leotards may have an attached short skirt. Tight-fitting bottoms, such as leggings, tights, or spandex shorts, should also be worn. Students may bring cover-ups to warm up in but are expected to remove them once they are sufficiently warm. Dance or gymnastics shoes are required (one pair will be provided). For ninja warrior classes, a tighter-fitting top also is required. The stomach should remain covered when the student goes upside down, so the shirt will need to be tucked in. NO SKIRTS OR BAGGY PANTS/SHORTS. Tighter-fitting bottoms should also be worn. Gym shoes that are clean and not worn outside can be worn OR if wanted, a pair of gymnastics shoes can be provided for ninja classes.

What is appropriate hair style for classes?

If the student has longer hair, it is REQUIRED that it be free from the face and in a tight bun, braid, or ponytail for class. Shorter hair must also be out of the face, and the student should not adjust it during class. This can be hazardous when doing certain moves, including stunts and tricks.

What is the difference between competition and performance teams?

Our competition teams participate in two regional dance competitions and limited local events, while our performance teams focus more on local performances and events. Both teams provide excellent opportunities for skill development and teamwork.

How do I know what level class my child needs to take?

We offer trial classes to evaluate your child’s abilities and determine the most suitable class placement. To arrange trial classes, please speak with Marla. You can also book a trial class online by clicking here. For detailed information on expected skills and class levels, click here to explore specific classes and read the descriptions for those your child is interested in.

What happens if my child misses a class?

We would hope your child never misses a class, but we understand that life happens and things come up. If your child needs to miss a class, fill out the online form or send a text to 906-367-5404. If you wish to make up a class, talk to Marla about doing so. There are different ways to make up a class: go to an open gym, try a gymnastics or Ninja Warrior class, or take a dance technique class. If your student is part of the performance team or competition team, absences drastically affect the team as a whole. It slows down the progress of everyone in the class and puts the perfection of the routine at a standstill. Please attend class as much as possible.

What if there is a snow day?

In Crystal Falls, if Forest Park School closes due to weather-related issues, all classes for that day will be canceled. We anticipate occasional snow days, and if there are more than two per season, Inclusion Dance will arrange make-up classes. You will be notified about the make-up days and times via email and/or text, and updates will also be posted on our Facebook page (please like and follow us).
